19th April 2020update by: How the Lght Gets In
The Institute of Art and Ideas, the people behind the world’s largest philosophy and music festival, HowTheLightGetsIn, have announced a one-of-a-kind virtual festival with a line-up of debates, talks, and courses featuring the world’s leading thinkers, live music from headline artists, and a host of other activities. 22nd to 25th May 2020.

After canceling what would have been the 11th instalment of HowTheLightGetsIn Hay, the four-day festival set in the heart of Hay-on-Wye which has been commended by Total Politics as “Europe’s answer to TED”, the team behind the festival are taking the experience online to keep minds aglow, bodies moving, and intellectual conversation alive during the ongoing lockdown period.

In addition to livestreamed debates and music, festivalgoers will have the opportunity to enter virtual hangout spaces where they can discuss the debates in realtime, argue the finer points of philosophy, or simply shoot the breeze as they would on the banks of the River Wye.

A raft of events are still to be announced, including a set of specially curated debates to address the coronavirus crisis.

Music acts are still to be announced, alongside a host of other events.
