Visit Hay

General information for your visit to Hay

Hay is quite a small town. It's possible to walk around the circumference of the town in about 20 minutes. Once you are here, there is no need for public transport to help you get around!

Car Parking

The main Car Park is located close to the Craft Centre and Tourist Bureau, opposite the rear of Hay Castle. The payment machine now accepts card payments, although it might be a good idea to also bring some change with you. Note: the parking of Motorhomes overnight is also allowed.

Cash Points

With the closure of our three Banks in town, there are still ways to obtain cash. Cash is available over the counter at the Post Office. A Cash Machine inside the Super-market CO-OP on Newport Street. You can also try retail shops who may offer 'cash back'.

Market Day

Market Day in Hay is Thursday. Please click HERE for more information about Market Day.

Public Toilets

Public Toilets: Located at the Craft Centre, next to the main car park, and also next to the Town Clock. Our public toilets were under threat of closure by Powys County Council, but to ensure they remain open, Hay Town Council have agreed to take over the maintenance and management of the toilets. To help sustain this, it now costs 30p to use the toilets. There are now card payment machines for toilets. One at the Craft Centre location, and one at the Town Clock location.

Laundrette

Laundrette: There is a public laundrette located in Bell Bank, open 8am to 8pm.
